I only configured what I need. For example, I use bluetooth to communicate with my phone, so I don't need the infrared.
What's working:
Video
Audio, including volume buttons and microphone/headphone jacks
Analog TV-out, VGA-out (did not require any effort)
USB, PS/2, Parallel and serial ports (did not require any effort except for enabeling them in the kernel)
Network (wired as well as wireless)
ACPI, including sleep states and software suspend
Hotkeys
